The Lina Collection

Lina awakens to the warmth of the sun as she passes by the kitchen window. The momentary embrace sparks a desire to step outside for a stroll, to soak up those delicious rays of sunlight. They are calling her name, Lina.

When dreaming up this Spring Summer Collection, I considered how crucial a hat is during the warmer months as protection. Aside from function, what’s the feeling we most want to capture during this time? Undoubtedly, for me, it’s that carefree feeling of simply throwing your hat on and running out the door to embrace the sun. Sandals, a pretty dress, a playful attitude and a lovely straw hat to top it off. Let life be light and easy, and may our fashions reflect this.

When searching for a collection name, I discovered that Lina means ‘sunlight’ in Greek. In Persian, Lina translates to ‘a ray of sunlight’ or a ‘beautiful girl’. A Spring-Summer Collection named Lina, a ray of sunlight; what could possibly ring truer?. Living in the North, it comes as no surprise that I feel the need to embrace the warmth of the sun as much as I can during the summer months. It often feels so fleeting.

The summer hat is a chic necessity. The sun can get intense and at times overbearing. Sunscreen, yes, but a hat is also a definite must. My goal with this collection is to make the styles easy to wear. I attempted to throw out the fussiness and to embrace the relaxed nature of the season when creating this collection.

My tried and true, favourite straw to use is of course Panama Staw, which is hand-made in Ecuador. I love it because it’s practical and elegant, a winning combination. It’s been around since the mid-1600s and the industry still supports artisans to this day.

I’ve included 11 styles in the collection, all of which can be made custom and created in a variety of colours. I hope you enjoy them.

Wishing everyone some wonderful summer months!
